Conceptual Studies

In the Conceptual Studies phase, Brass LNG assessed the viability of building an onshore LNG facility in the Niger Delta region.

Preliminary work

Between September 2001 and December 2002, we conducted a study to define the design, procurement, construction, and project management services needed to complete the Conceptual Phase.

The work was done in Houston, Texas and London at the offices of Bechtel Corporation.

What did the Project Team do?

Conceptual designs were generated that allowed Brass LNG to choose engineering options and define the project’s cost and schedule. The Project Team considered a gravity-based structure (GBS), a floating LNG design and an onshore location.

Results

The LNG FEED Contract was awarded to Overseas Bechtel Incorporated on 10th November 2004.

The Brass LNG plant will use the ConocoPhillips Optimised CascadeSM Process at both LNG trains on Brass Island with provision for third and fourth trains.
